Celebrating School Board Member Rick Steiner!
It’s School Board Appreciation Week, and we’re so grateful for our amazing Cherokee County School Board! A high-performing school district begins with a high-performing school board … and our board is incredibly dedicated to elevating the excellence in its governance. Each day this week, we will share one School Board member’s thoughts on three questions.
School Board Member Rick Steiner, District 4
What do you love most about serving on our School Board?
I am a dedicated and experienced school board member with a deep passion for education. Throughout my years of service, I have prioritized doing what is best for students and teachers, ensuring that our schools are environments where everyone can thrive. My commitment lies in advocating for policies and resources that empower educators, enhance student success, and build strong connections between schools and the community. I am honored to contribute to shaping our students' future and supporting our teachers' incredible work. I think that, until we’re able to pay teachers a competitive rate within the top five school districts, we still have work to do. I believe that getting resources to the teachers so they can achieve great things in the classroom is the No. 1 priority. I also believe that doing what is fiscally responsible to our taxpayers is a top priority.
What about our school district makes you the proudest?
What makes me the proudest as a veteran school board member is seeing our students excel, our teachers thrive, and our community come together to support education. The shared commitment to see teachers and students succeed and grow genuinely inspires me.
What about our school district’s future is most exciting to you?
What excites me most about the future of our school district is the safety and security for our students and the potential to provide resources and tools to our classrooms, empowering teachers to enhance their teaching and inspire students by creating a supportive environment where educators and students can reach their full potential and thrive together.
