Board Business Briefs: Board Plans Financial Review
The Cherokee County School Board on Thursday, March 27, met for a special called meeting.
During the brief meeting, the board voted unanimously to rescind a motion from its March 20 meeting calling for a “forensic audit.”
Following that, the board then unanimously authorized to instead conduct a third-party audit of the projection calculations used to determine the financial impact of the statewide floating homestead exemption, which the board last month unanimously voted to opt out of implementing. The approved audit will review the projections related to the general fund, identify any discrepancies, and define all future funding options to maintain current operations.
