CCSD School Earns Top Award from Safety Organization

CCSD School Earns Top Award from Safety Organization

A Cherokee County School District school has earned top honors from a statewide organization dedicated to safety!

Bascomb Elementary School earned the Partner of the Year Award for the West Georgia region from Safe Routes to School.  The honor recognizes the school’s efforts to encourage students to walk and bike more and stay safe at the same time.  Only four regional awards are presented statewide.

The statewide nonprofit organization leads projects and activities to improve community safety, reduce traffic and air pollution around schools and encourage children to pursue healthy and active lifestyles.  It designs programs to improve the health and well-being of children by enabling and encouraging them to walk or bicycle to school.

This award follows multiple Gold Awards from the organization for Bascomb ES, which is led by Principal Dr. Carolyn Daugherty.
