High School Students and Teachers Honored by Holly Springs Optimist Club
The Holly Springs Optimist Club today honored eight CCSD students, along with an outstanding teacher and a paraprofessional at its annual High School Awards breakfast, which recognizes outstanding special needs students and their supportive teachers and staff. The 2024 honorees are:
- Cherokee HS: Kadyn Dobbins, Presented by Alexis Halkyard
- Creekview HS: Katie Brown, Presented by Terry Hopkins
- Etowah HS: Camryn Caldwell, Presented by Deanna Sareen
- River Ridge HS: Anmar Moghrabi, Presented by Brandy Stegall
- Sequoyah HS: Alice Jefferson, Presented by Erin Halder
- Tippens Education Center: Keagan Simons, Presented by Felicia Kyle
- Transition Academy: Zoe Crossman, Presented by Andy Almonte
- Woodstock HS: Bryson Sims, Presented by Sadie Chadwick
The teacher award for Outstanding Achievement in Education went to John Holloway from Woodstock HS; and the Paraprofessional of the Year award went to Linda Chapman, Sequoyah HS. Amber Davis, intellectual disability curriculum specialist in the CCSD Special Education Department, served as emcee for the event.
Students received trophies and gift bag after a Chick-fil-a breakfast; the staff awards included plaques and gift bags, along with balloon centerpieces for each student and staff winner. Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis and School Board Chair Kyla Cromer attended the event, along with senior staff from the Curriculum & Instruction division and its Special Education department. Members of the Optimist Club closed out the program reciting the Optimist Creed.
